Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
- Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

i want to say i love you
i want to say i care,
i want to hug you tightly,
and know that you are there.

i want to make you happy,
i want you by my side,
i want your heart upon my sleeve,
and wear it full of pride.

i want to kiss you madly,
i want you for my own,
i want to give you my all,
and never be alone.

i want to say i treasure you,
i want for you to know.
i want to say my baby,
i miss you and i need you so…

I looked up
I saw a shooting star
I made a wish,
I made a wish to be with you

I looked down
I saw a penny
I made a wish
I made a wish to be with you

I looked to the right
I saw birthday candles
I made a wish
I made a wish to be with you

I looked to the left
I saw a dandelion on the lawn
I made a wish
I made a wish to be with you

I look straight ahead
I see you
I see you right here in front of me..
I made a wish,
I made a wish and it came true.

-Girl: Where are we? He takes it off
her and she opens her eyes and sees the
view of the city and at that same
spot…that’s where he first asked her
to be his girlfriend….
- Girl:Omg…(tears come down)
- Boy: Why are you crying?
- Girl: This is where you first asked me out…
- Boy: What are you doing the rest of your life?
(he asked on his knees and after he
says that…behind him…in the air it
says “Will you marry me?” in
fireworks)
- Girl: (tears come down faster)
- Boy: I wasnt at work when

- Girl: Get up!
- Boy: Yeah? - Girl: (kisses him)
- Boy:Is that a yes or a no?
- Girl: Yes.

WEETEST THING A GUY COULD DO

1). Leave her cute text messages. 2). Kiss her in front of your friends. 3). Trust her over everyone else. 4). Tell her she looks beautiful. 5). Look her in the eye when you talk to her. 6). Tell her stupid jokes to make her laugh. 7). Let her mess with your hair.
8) . Just walk around with her. 9). Include her in pretty much everything you do. 10). When she crys do whatever to make her
smile. 11). Forgive her for her mistakes. 12). Look at her like she’s the only girl you see. 13). Tickle her even if she says stop.
14). When she starts swearing at you tell her you love her. 15). Let her fall asleep in your arms. 16). Get her mad, then kiss her.
17). Tease her and let her tease you back. 18). Stay up with her all night when she’s sick. 19). Watch her favorite movie.
20). Kiss her forehead. 21). Write her letters. 22). Let her wear your clothes. 23). When she’s sad, hang out with her.
24). Let her know she is important. 25). Let her take all the photos of you she wants. 26). Surprise her with flowers for no reason
27). Kiss her in the rain. 28). And when you fall in love with her, tell her. 29). And when you do tell her.. Love her like you
never loved before.

What’s a Meantime Girl?

She’s the one you call when you’re bored because she makes you laugh. She’s the one you talk to when you’re feeling down because she’s willing to lend an ear and be a friend. She’s not the one you call when you need a date to your company’s Christmas party, or to go dancing with on a Saturday night. She’s the one you spend time with between girlfriends, before you find “The One”. You know, the one who you keep around in the meantime.

She’s not one of the guys, not a tomboy, but you don’t look at her as a “real” woman, either. She’s not bitchy enough, moody enough, or sexy enough to be seen in that light. She’s too laid-back, too easily amused by the same things your male buddies are amused by. She’s too understanding, too comfortable – she doesn’t make you feel nervous or excited the way a “real” woman does. But she’s cool, and nice, and funny, and attractive enough that when you’re lonely or horny and need intimate female companionship, she’ll do just fine. You don’t have to wine and dine her because she knows the real you already, and you don’t have any facades to keep up, no pretenses to preserve. You’re not trying to get anything of substance out of her. She’s not easy, but you know that she cares about you and is attracted to you, and that she’ll give you the intimacy you need. And you know you don’t have to explain yourself or the situation, that she’ll be able to cope with the fact that this isn’t the beginning of a relationship or that there’s any possibility that you have any real romantic feelings for her. It won’t bother her that you’ll get up in the morning, put on your pants, say goodbye, and go on a date with the woman you’ve been mooning over for weeks who finally agreed to go out with you. She’ll settle for a goodbye hug and a promise to call her and tell her how the date went. She’s just so cool . . . why can’t all women be like that?!

But deep down, if you really think about it (which you probably don’t because to you, the situation between the two of you isn’t important enough to merit any real thought), you know that it’s really not fair. You know that although she would never say it, it hurts her to know that despite all her good points and all the fun you two have, you don’t think she’s good enough to spend any real time with. Sure, it’s mostly her fault, because she doesn’t have to give in to your needs – she could play the hard-to-get bitch like the rest of them do, if she really wanted to. But you and she both know that she probably couldn’t pull it off. Maybe she’s too short, or a little overweight, or has a big birthmark on her forehead, or works at Taco Bell. Whatever the reason, somehow life has given her a lot of really great qualities but has left out the ones that men want (or think they want) in a woman. So she remains forever the funny friend, the steadfast companion, the secret lover, and you go on searching for your goddess who will somehow be everything you ever wanted in a woman.

You’ll joke to her that she should be the best man at your wedding : s a d :  , and she’ll laugh and make a joke about a smelly rental tux.

She doesn’t captivate you with her beauty, or open doors with her smile. Mainly she blends in with the crowd. She’s safe. She doesn’t want to be the center of attention and turn the heads of everyone in the room. But she wants to turn someone’s head. She wants to be special to someone, too. We all do.

She has feelings. She has a heart. In fact, she probably has a bigger and better heart than any woman you’ve ever known because she’s had a front-row seat to The Mess That Is Your Life, and she likes you anyway. She obviously sees something worthwhile and redeeming in you because although you’ve given her nothing, absolutely no reason to still be around, she is.

Anyway, yeah. I’m a Meantime Girl. Been one more times than I care to admit. I don’t know the reason, really, and at this point I don’t even care. I just want to let every guy know who’s ever had the good fortune to have a Meantime Girl that we may be a lot of fun, but we cry, too. A lot. And someday we won’t be around.

He’ll meet you and sweep you off your feet
he’s nice and funny..so cute and so sweet
surprisingly, he likes the same things as you
he does all the things that you love to do

He’s the perfect guy, the one of your dreams
you belong together or so it seems

He looked into your eyes and play with your hair
he tells you that he’ll always be there
his touch is so soft, his hold is so tight
his words are so soothing, his kiss is just right.

You ditch all your friends for your new obsession
you don’t realize your future will be full of deception
you think you love him, and you give him your heart
little did you know he’ll tear it apart

You do what he wants: you know its not good
you told him to slowdown, & you think he understood
you let it slide by, he’s just having fun;
you’ll learn to like it, because you & him are one

He’s taken your heart & locked it away
you see him w/ a different girl, the very next day
you cry & you grieve, but then you forgive
he won’t do it again. for as long as he lives

At this point, you have fallen into his trap;
he has control when you’re in his lap
you believe he was sorry- you’re together again
you give him another chance- he’s your only friend

You’re right where he wants you, he molds you like clay
and you see him with girl no. 3, the very next day
he got what he wanted, accomplished his goal;
he still has your heart, w/c he evilly stole

He’s taken your purity, you still can’t believe
you feel hurt, cheap and extremely naive
if only your hair was nice & straight,
if only you looked like you lost some weight

If only your clothes were a little bit tighter
if only your teeth were a little bit whiter
you know he’s an ass but you still want him back
and you grieve about the qualities you lack

All you wanted was to have some fun
now you wish this whole thing had ever begun
you wish that someday he would see you cry
that one day he’ll know how he killed you inside

But you know he won’t, because he’s numb to pain
he’ll be with some other girl while you cry and complain
beware of the Players - they will steal your heart
and give it back - once it’s all torn apart

Don’t let them suck you into their game
because once you lost… you’re never the same
The Poem

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease…..
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They’d laugh at me I’d fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God! held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
“Your name I cannot find
I once was going to write it down…
But never found the time”
One Last Sunset by: Yanna

It was nearly summer. You dig your toes into the sand, watching as the sun sets across the ocean. You glance at her, leaning on your shoulder. The dying sunlight casts a glow on her face that you just can’t describe. You catch your breath as you watch her, blinking softly at the sunset before you. She was smiling.

She catches your glance. “What are you looking at?”

You smile at her and say, “You. Why, have you got something to say about it?”

She laughs softly and slaps your arm. “You talk back now, huh?”

You respond by putting an arm around her and kissing her forehead. She has always been quite the joker, never taking things too seriously. Finding time to laugh even in times like these.

“Hey look. I found another shell,” she whispers, as she hands you a small one.

It was the seventh piece today. It was just the size of the palm of her hand, with an off-white color. It was pretty, but it had broken edges and empty ridges. Brittle. You were almost apprehensive to hold it.

Beautiful… But fragile. The shell was like an epitome of her. You stare at the small piece in your hand as your feel her warmth by your side. Suddenly, you feel a dull ache, as if steel hands clamped the insides of your heart. It hurts you to know that something so beautiful has to be so frail and weak. You wrap an arm around her and hold her close. She senses your sadness, even in a mere touch.

She looks up. “What’s wrong?”

Looking into her eyes, you feel the pain dig deeper as it sinks into you how much you love her. You run out of words, lost in her glance.

“Nothing. I just love you so much.”

She just smiles widely and burrows her head into the crook between your neck and your shoulder.

“I love you too. But you know that already.”

“Of course I know. I just want to tell you over and over again.”

The sun sets deeper into the horizon. You both watch, holding each other, as the darkness slowly bleeds into the sky, leaving the sun with faded stray lights. It was the sunset as you have never seen it, more beautiful than anything else.

She was unusually quiet for a while now. You strain your head down to look at her face. She fell asleep. Her mouth was slightly open, with still a hint of a smile in the corners of her lips. She looked so peaceful.

You chuckle softly. She was always like this. Always falling asleep so easily, even in the middle of a conversation. Once she feels like sleeping, she will. No matter whenever, or wherever she is.

You figured you’ll just wait for her to wake up, in a couple of minutes. You look around… Nobody else but the two of you on the beach. The sun had gone down, and the lamp posts on the beach boardwalk had gone on now. The lamps shared a faint glimmer of light with the ocean. You stare at the ocean water, remembering it was just the same as it looked three years ago, the first time you were here.

It was the middle of summer. By May, there were fewer visitors to disturb the tranquility of the beach, so you figured then that it would be the perfect time to take her there. It was sunset.

You turn off the car engine, smiling as you see the look on her face. You knew she loved the beach, and that she adored the sunset. What else could you ask for? Everything was perfect.

She was itching to get out of the car.

“Come on, man, we haven’t got all day!” she yells at you, laughing. You pretend to move slower, still not unlocking the car.

“Damn it,” she says, pouting.

You laugh at her face. “Where’s my hug?”

She gives you a hug for a split second. “Fine! Can we move now?”

You both get out of the car, savoring the sudden brush of the ocean breeze against your skin. The beach was… breathtaking. There was no other word for it. And the sunset just makes it all better. You walk past the boardwalk, and you take her hand. She looks at you and smiles, squeezing your hand a little. She didn’t want to walk around yet, insisting that you both sit first and watch the sunset.

You had a sudden idea. “How do you feel right now?” you ask her.

She looks at you and raises an eyebrow. “Is that your first question?”

You laugh at yourself. Twenty Questions, again.

The two of you go on and on, asking every random question after another random question. The sun sets lower and lower, as the questions get all the more serious. You knew you were both waiting for the last questions.

“Okay,” you take a deep breath. “This is my last question.”

“Bring it on,” she says, with a smug look on her face.

“You love me, right?”

“Of course I do. Is that it—?”

“No, no, no… I’m not finished yet.”

“Fine.”

“I love you. I love you more than anything else in the world. There’s nothing that anyone can offer me that I could exchange for what we have right now. Everything with you is… perfect. Just perfect. I couldn’t really ask for anything more except for one thing, just one tiny, single thing. Just an answer to my question.”

She looked at me expectantly. “Yes…?”

You slide a shaking hand into your pocket, and pull out this small, silver ring. Her eyes widened.

“Will you be my girlfriend?”

The look on her face was priceless. It was the perfect cross between joy and surprise. She smiled the prettiest smile you’ve ever seen on her face, and then bowed her head down.

When she looked up, she had tears in her eyes.

“I thought you’d never ask.”

You just smile, feeling the greatest happiness you’ve ever felt in your life. You couldn’t compare it to anything else, as you slip the ring onto her finger. You look into her eyes, and before you could say anything more, she throws her arms around your neck and hugs you.

You’ve been to this beach countless times for the past three years, every single visit more memorable than the last. Those were the days, you think, as you mull over all the memories. Those were the days when we had nothing to worry about except college assignments. Those were the days when she could still run with you on beach for hours. Those were the days before she was diagnosed with cancer.

Right now, you just sit, holding her and praying to God that there will be another after this one.

You feel her suddenly jerk awake, looking at you with a wide-eyed look on her face.

“Whoa. I fell asleep,” she whispers, not believing it.

“So you did,” you say, amused.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“Because you looked so peaceful.”

“I have a lot of time after this to be looking peaceful,” she mutters, laughing quietly and shaking her head.

“Hey.” You raise a hand up to touch her face. “Don’t say that, okay?”

“Okay… I’m sorry.”

She looks away, but before her face turned, you see her eyes brimming with tears. You reach out to take her face into your hands.

“Listen to me,” you start. “Everything will be okay. I promise. We can get through this. You can get through this. I know you’re strong, and I’m trying with all my life to be strong for you too. So don’t let me down, okay?”

She smiled. “I promise. I love you.”

It was getting late, almost eight in the evening. You’ve been sitting there with her for hours. She looks at you and tells you that it’s time to go. You nod, standing up, kissing her softly before going to the car to get her wheelchair. Every step you took made your heart feel heavier, even more so as you glance back at her, sitting there on the sand, waiting for you.

The trip back to the hospital will be very painful.

It was the end of summer. You dig your toes into the sand, watching as the sun sets across the ocean.

You think of the last time you were here, as you watch the small boat nearby. There were two men on it, scattering dust into the ocean. Fulfilling the last wish of the girl you ever loved, before she took her last breath three days ago.

You look down at the small, brittle shell clutched in your hand.

“I just love you so much.”

“I love you too. But you know that already.”

“Of course I know. I just want to tell you over and over again…”
